The Mighty Mole

The Mighty Mole is a fun children's book that reads like an illustrated poem.  It is about a little mole who dreams of a grander life as a bigger or stronger animal.  Follow the mole as it takes on faster and stronger animals in a journey toward Zen-like wisdom.

The Mighty Mole has been read to classrooms of students from kindergarten through 6th grade where it has always received very positive responses from the kids as well as the teachers! The kids have fun guessing what the mole will become next and are pleased with the vivid illustrations and cheerful rhymes.  Teachers enjoy reading the poem and appreciate the "lesson" to be learned.

Parents have told me that they enjoyed reading The Mighty Mole to their own kids (and that their children liked the story, too!).

Book History:
This book began in November, 2004 when I wrote a short kids' poem based on one of my favorite zen stories.  My cousin who runs a school (pre-school through 6th grade) said it was good and that she would buy it for her school, and suggested I publish it.  After some research, I decided to self-published it with AuthorHouse.

I wanted to surprise my sister and forced my whole family and all my friends to keep it quiet for a whole year until I had a printed copy in my hand in December 2005!  It was very fun to hand her the book, especially when she saw that I had dedicated it to her kids, my nephew and nieces.

Currently, my fiance and her friends, who are all working to get their teaching credentials, read The Mighty Mole to their students when they substitute.  They always bring back happy reviews.  My aunt, Mary M. May (who did the illustrations!) is also an elementary teacher and loves reading the book to her students as well.  She tells me they love it every time!
